In short

Puls does not collect personal data. All values are measured and displayed locally on your Mac. There is no account, no analytics or tracking, and no advertising.

Data processing in the app

Puls reads system values such as processor and memory usage, network and disk throughput, battery level and thermal state through macOS interfaces. These values never leave your Mac and are only kept in memory for the live display. Your settings are stored locally in the macOS preferences.

Optional public IP address lookup

Only if you turn on “Show public IP address” in Settings, Puls queries the service api.ipify.org at most every five minutes, and only while the panel is open, to display your public IP address. For technical reasons your IP address is transmitted to the operator of that service. The legal basis is your consent by turning on the feature (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time by turning it off. In the App Store version this feature is off by default.

Update check in the GitHub version

The free version from GitHub asks GitHub’s public interface (api.github.com) once a day whether a newer version exists. For technical reasons your IP address is transmitted to GitHub; no other data is sent. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in informing you about fixes (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can turn the check off in Settings under “Check for updates”. The App Store version does not contain this check; it is updated by Apple.
